• Ensure efficient and durable operation of all mechanical equipment and machinery of the plant with utmost reliability.
• Review the log sheets/shift registers and physically check the work performed on the previous day/night, on daily basis.
• Manage efficient performance of operational tasks in each work area through the respective area in charge. 
• Ensure daily visits to the plant with special attention to the problem areas and attend the daily morning meetings.
• Regularly review and improve preventive and predictive maintenance systems covering all the mechanical equipment.
• Ensure efficient and durable working of the utilities like Compressors, Blowers, Bag Filters, and water supply/circulation system.
• Review vibration levels of critical equipment like I.D. fan, E.P. fan, vent fan, main drives, and lab testing of lubricants from major gearboxes etc.
• Coordinate the execution & inspection sections for the issuance of work orders or problems pointed out by inspectors and review on weekly basis.
• Review the monthly cost using and spares consumption on weekly basis.
• Regularly monitor the progress of all ongoing departmental projects with a view to avoid/resolve hold-ups.
• Attend all Quality Council (Works) meetings and take action on all relevant points.
• Oversee all-time availability of minimum levels of relevant spares at the Stores department and sign SRVs as and when required.
